Our story

Both Mostafa and Jim are extremely passionate about health sector governance, and they share a firm belief in its importance. They have been dedicating the largest parts of their lives to the endeavor of enhancing governance in the health sector. Their work over the past 30 years in over 60 countries has shown the value of, and continuous need for, wise governance principles, processes and practices for enhanced health sector performance. In their long journey, they witnessed hands-on the complexity of governance related topics, and they found their ways in making them simple, concrete, applicable, user-friendly and impactful. They also saw the tremendous need for creative solutions to address governance related challenges and risks. Their passion, vision and commitment brought them together to create Health Governance International LLC, an entity dedicated exclusively to health governance and the partner of choice when it comes to navigating the complexity of health systems and delivering success in challenging environments. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed a multiplicity of weaknesses in health governance at the institutional, national, regional and global levels. The more we understand the disruptions caused by COVID-19, technological innovations, economic and political crises and demographic shifts, the more we realize the necessity for governance to be agile, innovative and wise. HGI is there to advance health governance globally and help organizations generate value through good and wise governance.
